Pohutukawa (New Zealand Christmas Tree)

Print of a watercolor painting of the New Zealand Christmas Tree. Maren used this as her 2013 holiday card. This unusual tree grows only in New Zealand and blooms in December and early January, hence its name. The flowers are bright red spiky-looking blooms. The tree grows more outward than upward, and a single tree usually has several trunks that intertwine and twist to form the branches.

The original painting, on 300-lb cold press watercolor paper, is 11.25" by 7.5".
